Suspension Work
The suspension system along with the steering is what allows your wheels to move independently while keeping your vehicle stable and suspended. The alignment of your vehicle is closely tied to the condition of the suspension system. Uncontrolled motion can result in accelerated tire wear.
The main components of your suspension system are:
Control Arms~ is a suspension element that has one joint at one end and two joints at the other. These joints are typically on the chassis side. It is also known as a wishbone or A-arm.
Ball Joints~ are flexible joints consisting of a ball within a socket. These ball joints act as pivots which allow the turning of the front wheels. They also compensate for changes in the wheel and steering that occur while driving.
Springs (Coil Leaf)~ absorbs the impact from the road.
Shock Absorbers~ are mechanical devices designed tos mooth out impulse and dissipate kinetic energy.
Struts~ are the main support in a MacPherson suspension system. The struts can also act as the shock absorber.
